Pink paper wrappers worn with tears and chips, some detached. Chips to paper spines. Internally good.; 7 issues, all in original printed pink paper wrappers. These are 7 consecutive issues. The 1870 report has data for the years 1869-70; 1873 for 1871-72; 1875 for 1873-74; 1877 for 1875-76; 1880 for 1877-79; 1883 for 1880-82; 1885 (published 1888, see imprint on page 43) for 1883-84. Wrappers worn, some detached, with tears and chips. Internally good. Page dimensions: 244 x 155mm. Contents includes tables of temperature, wind force and direction, earthquakes, atmospheric pressure and elastic force of vapour, rainfall, diagrams, descriptions of weather by weather station. James Hector was Director of the Golonial Museum and Geological Survey Department of the New Zealand Government. "As the earlier meteorological reports are now out of print, it may be useful to recapitulate the history of the deparment, and to describe the position and outfit of the various observing stations, especially as the very ample provision that was made by the New Zealand Government for procuring accurate meteorological statistics in former years has been lately very much curtailed in favour of current weather reports." - from the 1885 report, page vii.
