About this Item
8vo. [7], vi-ix, [2], 2-195, [3] pp. Flexible paper-covered boards replicating the design on the front panel and spine panel of the dust jacket (but omitting the list of series title on the rear panel). An early volume in the long-running Studies in Logic and the Foundations of Mathematics series. Series editors L. E. J. Brouwer, E. W. Beth, and A. Heyting. Omega Bibliography, III, 462. Robinson was one of the pioneering figures in the development of model theory and the present book is based on his doctoral dissertation completed at the Hebrew University in 1949. The work is broadly concerned with applying the methods of mathematical logic to modern algebra, in particular, Robinson shows how the key notions of algebra can be derived within formal logic. A presentable copy of Robinson's first book. A Very Good book with a previous owner's name written on the front endpaper and light wear to the extremties in a Very Good presumably slightly later issue dust jacket (showing series titles from 1953 and 1954) with darkening to the spine panel and some light general wear.
