Item description from seller

Dustwrapper, pp.480. Illustrated, inc colour plates. Edited by Jasper Hadman. Witts was Commander of No 2 Mobile Bridging Train and responsible for the crossing of the Tigris in 1917, bringing the end of Ottoman rule in Mesopotamia. Following the end of the war, he then served in Kurdistan before joining the staff of General Coningham during the 1920 Insurrection. These letters were written to his mother in Upper Slaughter, a Cotswold village. Ther is the very slightest of wear to the wrapper top edge in places, and the book has a very slight forward lean. So a very near fine copy in dustwrapper. Scarce. Heavy book weighing c1400g when packed, and thus extra postage ( at cost ) will be requested to cover shortfall from default postage quotation for 1000g for overseas orders and those wanted by 1st class post in the UK.( 2nd class UK not affected ). Quote can be given if requested.
