Volume 1 has 443 pages with a beautiful copper engraved portrait frontispiece of Cosmus or Cosimo Medici by J Hibbert Jnr of Bath with copper engraved vignette title page. Volume 2 has 525 pages + a 9 page separately paginated index at rea and recto of this is an errata list. with a vignette title page and 6 copper engraved portrait medallion engravings as head-pieces and an engraved tail-piece at the end. The binding is later plain tan cloth with gilt titles on spine, the portrait in volume i looks cleaned and the book has been trimmed slightly. Volume two has tips of the pages at top outer edge damp stained, noticeable on several pages, not on them all. The work has large clear typeface and is all on hand made rag paper. The size is full quarto. The dedication to Lord Lansdown is dated August 25th 1797. *The intrigues and political shaping of Italy and its regions, the Moors, The Turks , The Christians, Pope Pius X, Merchants, Banking, Sea-trading, Art, Tuscany and gold are all part of this narrative.
