Item description from seller

A very clean copy in a very good jacket which is protected and attached to the book. Part 1 of Volume VI narrates the Allied operations from early April to the liberation of Rome on 4 June 1944. It opens with the stalled situations at Anzio and Monte Cassino, then follows the planning and execution of Operation Diadem, the major spring offensive designed to break the Gustav Line. The narrative traces the breaching of the Gustav and Hitler Lines, the breakout from Anzio, and the final push through the Caesar Line into Rome.
