12mo. . xviii, 82 pages. A rare miniature of one of Bishop Edward Reynolds most scarce works on Peter's rise and fall (before becoming an apostle). It is not found in OCLC or NUC. His long career included his sermons before Parliament in the English Civil War and then Parliament sent him to Oxford. DNB says in spite of his hoarse voice, he was among the most important Presbyterian middle-of-the road preachers. This is a small miniature bound in full calf trimmed in gilt raised bands with compartments decorated I gilt, black morocco spine label gilt, marbled endpapers, small stain to rear board, internally fresh.
