[Women Suffrage] Robinson, Harriet H. Massachusetts in the Woman Suffrage Movement. Boston, Roberts Brothers: 1881. First edition, 265 pages, measuring 4.75 in x 7 in. Original red boards with black floral decoration, and floral decorated endpapers. Robinson joined Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton in the National Woman Suffrage Association in 1881. The book documents how the activism in Massachusetts in the 1800s precipitated the progressive reforms of the 19th century in the United States. Includes the Woman Suffrage Movement in Massachusetts, its primary figures such as Carrie Chapman Catt, the Grimke sisters, and others, and the lead up to the first National Woman's Right Convention, which was held in Massachusetts in 1850. Also touches on the emergence of the women's labor movement, including the rise of female physicians in Massachusetts. Front and back boards very loose back board partially detached, spine nearly detached with interior seams showing, water stain on front board, Ex library, with book plate on front pastedown and library card on rear pastedown. Library stamps on a few pages, text block loose, several pages detached but present. Shelfworn. In fair to good condition. KRICHMAR 1944.
