New York: New Directions, 1953. Gide won the Nobel Prize in 1947; here are two of his early satires. This is a Near Fine copy of the First American Edition, translated from the original French by George D. Painter. Published two years after his death. Brown cloth binding with titling in black and white on the spine. Clean text; 192 pages. There is a faint moisture circle on the front cover; else a Fine copy, very fresh. The dustjacket has a lightly faded spine with a shalow chip at the head. In an archival plastic protector. . First American Edition. Hard Cover. Near Fine/Very Good Plus. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
