Item description from seller

First Edition, 1939. Hardbound in red cloth. Frontis and interior illustrations by Carlos Ruano Llopis. Described on the dustjacket as a novel, “Drenched with the sun and blood of the bullring.” This is the author’s first and only book. Rex Ingram, sometimes credited as Rex Hitchcock, was the famous silent film director who discovered Rudolph Valentino and created such films as The Four Horsemen of the Apocolypse, The Prisoner of Zenda, and Scaramouche. A Knopf effort, this is nicely done with typography, design and jacket by designer W. A. Dwiggins and 23 line drawings and frontis by an illustrator all aficianados know. The jacket is in good condition and has not been price-clipped although it is missing a narrow strip at the head of the spine and a chip midway/top of the front. It is protected by a clear mylar wrapper. 8vo.
