The first edition of this scarce work in the publisher's original cloth binding, with the very scarce original unclipped dust wrapper. Library stamp to the front paste down. Library stamp and ink inscription to the verso of the title page.Margaret Beavan (1877-1931) was the first female Lord Mayor of Liverpool in 1927. She was a well-known campaigner for the welfare of children and mothers, founding the Liverpool Child Welfare Association, Liverpool Open Air Hospital for Children, Royal Liverpool Babies Hospital, Ellen Gonner Convalescent Home, and the Tired Mothers' Rest Home. This is a biography of the life of this admirable woman by Ivy A. Ireland. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, cloth is mostly bright, though a little faded to the spine, with bumping to the upper extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Dust wrapper is soiled with chipping to the head and tail of the spine and to the folds of the flaps, with a small closed tear each to the front and rear of the wrap. Very Good Indeed. book.
