The book describes the essential stations in the life of Manfred 'Ibrahim' Böhme (1944-1999), who gained prominence at the end of the GDR for a short time and was considered a charismatic political talent in East and West. The SPD top candidate for the People's Chamber election in 1990 was considered not only by the media as a future GDR head of government. The documents and reports presented here prove that Böhme was actually a 'political marriage swindler' who had changed from the former sympathiser of the Prague Spring to a well-disguised and overzealous Stasi ingredient. The resume, reconstructed by Christiane Baumann, refutes the countless falsifications of his biography that Böhme himself had spread - and at the same time tells from the East German context: of committed people, cultural milieus and alternative groupings with which he kept contact to betray them at some point. An extreme life story characterized by timeless human conflicts, but above all by the mental narrowness and limitation of circumstances.
