"The Man Who Died" by D.H. Lawrence with its original dust jacket. 1931 1st American edition, 1st printing; Alfred A. Knopf; New York. From a review: "In his last novel, published less than a year before his untimely death at the age of forty-five, D.H. Lawrence takes up the theme of Christ's resurrection and his final days on Earth. Lawrence recounts Christ's agonizing journey from death back to life with an alarmingly profane realism, depicting the tale from the moment of his initial painful awakening to his eventual redemptive sexual relationship with the priestess of the pagan goddess Isis. The story expands beyond its Christian roots to explore and embrace Lawrence's abiding faith in the life-force apparent in every aspect of the natural world. For his final work, Lawrence has encapsulated a lifetime of extraordinary vision into one profound and exquisite parable." The dust jacket comes with a clear, protective sleeve (not shown). Condition: Clean covers and spine. Bright gilt lettering on the spine. Sharp cover corners. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. Both covers are firmly attached. Nice interior - the pages are mostly clean with only a light smudge on the front end paper and half title page, and a bit of light foxing to a few pages at the back. There is a nickel-sized red sticker affixed at the top-left corner of the rear pastedown. Overall the book is in Very Good condition. The dust jacket has some light soiling to the back cover; "175C" is stamped in ink at the bottom-right corner of the front flap; there are a few small tears along the perimeter; tiny bits of paper missing at the top edge.overall the jacket is in Very Good- condition.…
