Zipes, noted scholar of German folklore and literature, with his signature on the front paste-down of each volume and his pen notations in the translators' foreword of Vols. 1 and 3. Bindings are tight and sturdy; faint damp-stains on bottom edge of Vol. 1 and 3's front and rear boards, else only minor wear to edges of green cloth boards, gilt/mauve titling on spines remains bright and bold; text very good throughout set (besides Prof. Zipes's underlining mentioned above); faint foxing to top edge of page blocks. Mild wear, toning to edges of clipped dust jackets, mild toning to spine panels as well; jackets arrive wrapped in protective mylar. The earliest English-language edition of this classic of German modernism, straight from the library of one of America's preeminent scholars of German literature and culture.
