Published in London in 1884 this is the First Edition of this important book on the Victorian Shipbuilding industry in Britain, with sections on Steamship Construction, The Speed & Power of Modern ships, Notable Shipyards and the men involved in the industry bound in the original blue cloth with bevelled edged boards, titled in gilt, 9 inches tall, 216 pages with illustrations, the binding is showing some obvious signs of rubbing wear to edges, with fraying and small splits at spine ends and corners, internally foxing to endpapers with old pencilled ownership name, browning to some outer page edges, some slight shaking to contents with a couple of the gatherings standing slightly proud of the text block, though still well attached A GOOD ACCEPTABLE EXAMPLE OF THIS IMPORTANT BOOK ON THE VICTORIAN SHIPBUILDING INDUSTRY.
