HARDCOVER, Publisher: London, The Epworth Press, (1954). FIRST EDITION, (VG / VG). Publishers Original Cream Cloth Coloured Boards, with Dark Blue Pictorial drawing to Front, Dark Blue Titles To Spine 7 ½” X 5 ¼” X ½” 96pp. With Drawings by ‘Sillince’. ('Neat', Gift inscription on the 1/2 Title page, Else, Clean & Tight). The Dust Jacket, Is A Little ‘Rubbed’ at the Edges, Else Clean And Not Price Clipped, (6s. net). FRONT (inside) FLAP This is a really funny book. It is a light-hearted history of English Literature somewhat in the manner of '1066 and All That'. But it has its own originality of treatment, and if it does nothing to help the reader to distinguish between Caedmon the Cowherd and Noel Coward, it will certainly add to his store of extremely unknown facts about English Literature. Sillince's drawings have perfectly caught the infectious gaity of the text.
