An excellent account of the Ute Uprising in 1879 that resulted in the killing of the men and captivity of the women at Meeker Indian Agency in Colorado, as well as the resultant battles between the Utes and the U.S.Army troops coming the rescue the Meeker Agency. Staining, including some black specks which may be a kind of dry mould, on the upper board; additional edge staining to the lower board; and some of the gilt lettering is dulled.
