First edition, first printing. Original red cloth with gilt titles to the spine and black titles and design to the upper board, without dustwrapper. Illustrated throughout in black and white by W. T. Horton and H. M. Brock. A very good copy, the binding firm with light bumping at the extremities, some toning to the spine and wear to the cloth, particularly to the spine tips and corners. The contents, with a previous owners' inscription to the front free endpaper and a small bookseller's label to the front pastedown, are otherwise clean throughout. The paper at the rear inner hinge is cracked but is holding firm. A philosophical tale about a hare, beautifully and eclectically illustrated by the artist and occultist W. T. Horton and the more traditional illustrator H. M. Brock. 5003 copies printed Aug 1911; Published 16 October 1911 (Whatmore: H. Rider Haggard, A Bibliography F38). Further details and images for any of the items listed are available on request. All items are catalogued by humans. Lucius Books welcomes direct contact with our customers.…
