The prostitution of men for men has always taken place in secret - leaving traces mainly in court records and in criminal and sexual science debates. Martin Lücke negotiates in this study what was considered legitimate in the field of masculinity and sexuality and what was considered deviant and thus perverse or criminal. The book analyzes these discourses, but also statements of the "customers" and prostitutes in court. In this way, it writes not only a history of homosexuality, but of masculinity at all - the definition of the "deviant" at the same time constructed the "normal".
