Item description from seller

Vintage Hardcover, First Edition, 1916, J.P.Lippincott Company, Philadelphia and London, 355 pages followed by 18 graphed pages sectioned by Brand, Color, Gravity Baume, Viscosity, Cold Test Fahr, Flash Fahr, Fire Fahr and Compound Per Cent and then followed by 16 blank graphed pages possibly for notes.Very Good+, no DJ - as issued. Just a touch of shelf/edge wear to deep maroon cloth boards with gilt spine titles - two corners are bumped. Previous owner name in elaborate script on inside front and rear covers. Only flaw is the FFEP and the title page after it has corner folds. All pages are clean and unmarked. 37 chapters in 5 parts, 114 B&W illustrations, 25 tables and 2 charts plus index. This was the state of the art in 1916 and in many ways, little has changed from these basics. Anyone with equipment dating from the turn of the 20th century will have a definite use for this book. Not only does this book cover the basics of oil and of lubrication, but how specifically it applies to air compressors, automobiles. coal mining machinery, diesel engines, baking machinery, electric street cars and interurban electric cats, elevators, flour milling machinery, refrigerating and ice baking machinery, internal combustion engines, marine engines, motors and dynamos, newspaper printing machinery, pneumatic tools, railway locomotives, rolling mills, textile machinery, transformers, steam turbines, water wheels and wire drawing. Seldom seen in this nice a condition. See photos to come. A very handsome and clean First Edition.LOC SSE-07.…
