In 1972, Lou Reed released his first solo album after leaving the legendary rock band The Velvet Underground two years earlier. He also went on tour. Reed has a contrasting image of sex, drugs & rock 'n' roll, and doesn't hesitate to fool his audience and insult journalists. In these early years, Reed's solo career has already become erratic and reckless but that doesn’t affect his rising popularity. In the mid-seventies, he seemed to find his true form on stage and the rock 'n' roll animal disappears from view to make way for a more 'ordinary' Reed. Musically and lyrically, Reed is a poet. He shows, however, that he is also one of the greatest artists in rock music.
From the photographs Gijsbert Hanekroot took of Lou Reed in Amsterdam during concerts and interviews an extensive selection will now be published in a beautiful photo book. Sebastiaan Vos provides excellently documented description. of Hanekroot’s photographs of Reed.

In 1969 Gijsbert Hanekroot (Brussels 1945) started as a professional photographer. Just in time to capture the explosion of the rock scene in the seventies. Many iconic photos were the result. This book contains his most important photographs by Lou Reed, including a number of previously unpublished gems.
Gijsbert Hanekroot started working as a rock photographer at the end of the sixties and was one of the first in the Netherlands. In the seventies and early eighties he got an impressive amount of bands and musicians in front of his camera. His craftsmanship as a photographer (he is self-taught), developed parallel to that of pop music. Hanekroot travelled a lot and stood eye to eye with all the icons from this period.
Sebastiaan Vos (Middelstum, 1973) studied Dutch and is an archivist and publicist. In 2016, he wrote the text for David Bowie - The Seventies, with photographs by Gijsbert Hanekroot. For Lou Reed in Amsterdam 1972 – 1977, he gives an informative description of the early years of Lou Reed's solo career and offers an excellently documented description of Hanekroot’s photographs of the American rock star.

Terms of sale
Quinto was a bookselling phenomenon on Charing Cross Road in London. The shop was established in the mid-1980’s, taking over from E. Joseph, one of the first booksellers in the street, and became famous for the massive queues outside when they had their monthly ‘changeovers’.
In 2008 **Quinto **merged with antiquarian booksellers Francis Edwards, a London business since 1855, and continued a few doors down the road on 72 Charing Cross Road.
In March 2020 the decision was made not to renew the lease on Charing Cross Road. Francis Edwards still trades at the Old Cinema in Hay-on-Wye. Quinto only sells online for the time being and in this way continues a long tradition of selling quality second hand and antiquarian books, drawing on decades of experience at the heart of the London book trade.

If you are a consumer you can withdraw from the contract in accordance with the following. Consumer means any natural person who is acting for purposes which are outside his trade, business, craft or profession.
Information regarding the right of withdrawal
Statutory right to withdraw
You have the right to withdraw from this contract within 14 days without giving any reason.
The withdrawal period will expire after 14 days from the day on which you acquire, or a third party other than the carrier and indicated by you acquires, physical possession of the last good or the last lot or piece.
To exercise the right of withdrawal, electronically fill in and submit a clear statement on our website, under "My Purchases" in "My Account". We will communicate to you an acknowledgement of receipt of such a withdrawal on a durable medium (e.g. by e-mail) without delay.
To meet the withdrawal deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right of withdrawal before the withdrawal period has expired.
Effects of withdrawal
If you withdraw from this contract, we will reimburse to you all payments received from you, including the costs of delivery (except for the supplementary costs arising if you chose a type of delivery other than the least expensive type of standard delivery offered by us).
We may make a deduction from the reimbursement for loss in value of any goods supplied, if the loss is the result of unnecessary handling by you.
We will make the reimbursement without undue delay, and not later than 14 days after the day on which we are informed about your decision to withdraw from this contract.
We will make the reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise; in any event, you will not incur any fees as a result of such reimbursement.
We may withhold reimbursement until we have received the goods back, or you have supplied evidence of having sent back the goods, whichever is the earliest.
You shall send back the goods or hand them over to Quinto Bookshop, London, United Kingdom, without undue delay and in any event not later than 14 days from the day on which you communicate your withdrawal from this contract to us. The deadline is met if you send back the goods before the period of 14 days has expired. You will have to bear the direct cost of returning the goods. You are only liable for any diminished value of the goods resulting from the handling other than what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods.
Exceptions to the right of withdrawal
The right of withdrawal does not apply to:
- The delivery of newspapers, journals or magazines with the exception of subscription contracts; and
- The supply of digital content which is not supplied on a tangible medium (e.g. on a CD or DVD) if you accepted when you placed your order that we could start to deliver it, and that you could not withdraw once delivery had started.

Orders usually ship within 2-3 business days. Shipping costs are based on books weighing 2.2 LB, or 1 KG. If your book order is heavy or oversized, we may contact you to let you know extra shipping is required.
