About this Item
First edition book in price-unclipped dust jacket. 296pp., shipping weight 470 grams, 14.5 x 22 cms. Book in good condition but there are some nicks to D/J. Arthur Koestler's book is an account of his travels in "tradition bound India" and "modern Japan." He undertook them in continuation of his long search for something to satisfy the demands of his scientific intelligence and his hunger for mystical fulfillment. The first part is devoted to India. It contains portraits of four contemporary saints, this is followed by two chapters on Yoga and the section concludes with a discussion of the culture of India. The second part of the book takes the reader to the entirely different world of Japan, where he shows his exasperation with Japanese evasiveness. However, he says that were he exiled from Europe he would prefer to live in Japan. Seller Inventory # 489
