1st ed. Frontis, vi, [3], 210. Frontis is a folding plate. With the half-title. Disbound with front board, frontis, title and following two leaves detached. Printed label for 'Williams's Library, corner of Assembly Rooms, Cheltenham' on front cover. Brittle paper stock a little fragile. In his advertisement the author engagingly writes, 'The following Romance is founded upon a Tale that I have read in prose, but the name of the novel which contains it, I forget'. He also recounts, 'After I had finished it, I was informed by Ensign French, of the 1st West India regiment, since deceased, that he had seen a Melo-drama performed at Astley's, called, 'Blood will have Blood; or, the Battle of the Two Bridges', which, upon my reading him the manuscript, he said, resembled this Romance in some parts'. Uncommon, copies in England at BL and Oxford only.
