London: George Allen & Unwin, November 1955, 1956, 1955. Hardback, VG, in VG (TTT and RoftK) and Good (FotR) unclipped dustjackets. All the dustjackets have shelfwear to edges, bumping to corners, nicks and slight damage to top of spine. Additionally the dustjacket for FotR has some tearing repaired internally with brown tape. Dustjacket for RotK has 1" tear to top rear spine hinge and small nick to spine. TTT is 4th impression in a 3rd impression dustjacket. RotK is second variant jacket with short reviews on inner rear flap. All three volumes red cloth with gilt lettering and decoration to spine. A few marks to cloth and some rubbing to top rear board of FotR. Bindings strong. Light tanning to endpapers. Ownership signature and 1956 date to ffep of all three volumes, suggesting a single purchase, since when the books have stayed together. Occasional foxing spots to prelims. FotR, 4023pp., map opposite p. 24. Rear endpaper with foldout map detached but intact ; possibly from another copy? TTT 352pp. + terminal foldout map. RotK 416pp. + terminal fold out map. p. 49 variant has dropped text and number 4. Top edges of page blocks stained red, a little faded in places. Contents all clean and bright.
