The three softcovers in a worn but intact red paperboard box, in stiff tan cardcovers faded and creased to the spine, wear and some beginning separation at lower spines, interior still clean and tight. Tolkien has not only revised in this edition but has added a Foreword, an addition to the Prologue, some notes, and an Index of the names of some persons and places. The exteriors show some wear but the text contains important additional content for the Tolkien collector.
