Allen and Unwin. 1962, 1962, 1961 Impressions 12, 9, 8 One of my better condition sets. No tears a copy of minor light stains, one on RotK jacket spine, sunning to jacket spines. Of 1st edition sets you are more or less buying jacket as far as the value, thus this set is priced higher. Books are excellent, all have uniform wear, indicating they were purchased together which by 1962 was normal. With a near fine period slipcase. Condition, Condition, Condition! As Tolkien book collecting grows in popularity, the availability of collectible/investment original condition books and jackets disappears. It is not just the printing/edition that matters to the value, but that serious collectors want only the best condition. Books with damaged jackets or even no jackets at all, are now increasing in price, driving up the price of complete and better condition copies. You could have a poor copy worth only £200 or a fine copy worth £5,000. That's how important condition is to value. You should always buy the best you can afford original jackets, early printing and very good or better. Unlike other genre’s, the market for Tolkien early editions is quite mature and well established. It is not a matter of waiting for a better copy to come along. There aren’t going to be any! There are no more hiding in the attic or charity shops. People sell off their more worn copies when they upgrade and now leave their collections to their children. We’ve been a specialist dealer for 25 years. Some examples that were plentiful just two years ago are now completely gone or only the dregs appear. As time goes on, you’ll pay more money, for less condition. First editions The Lord of the Rings and Hobbits remain the most in demand. An 24 year old on-line book selling business mostly J.R.R. Tolkien first and early editions. We do not have a shop, but can meet you locally or come to you by appointment. Note this is our office address. Some stock may be out on exhibition, out of the country and may delay our delivery time. Right of withdrawal
If you are a consumer you can withdraw from the contract in accordance with the following. Consumer means any natural person who is acting for purposes which are outside his trade, business, craft or profession.
Information regarding the right of withdrawal
Statutory right to withdraw
You have the right to withdraw from this contract within 14 days without giving any reason.
The withdrawal period will expire after 14 days from the day on which you acquire, or a third party other than the carrier and indicated by you acquires, physical possession of the last good or the last lot or piece.
To exercise the right of withdrawal, electronically fill in and submit a clear statement on our website, under "My Purchases" in "My Account". We will communicate to you an acknowledgement of receipt of such a withdrawal on a durable medium (e.g. by e-mail) without delay.
To meet the withdrawal deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right of withdrawal before the withdrawal period has expired.
Effects of withdrawal
If you withdraw from this contract, we will reimburse to you all payments received from you, including the costs of delivery (except for the supplementary costs arising if you chose a type of delivery other than the least expensive type of standard delivery offered by us).
We may make a deduction from the reimbursement for loss in value of any goods supplied, if the loss is the result of unnecessary handling by you.
We will make the reimbursement without undue delay, and not later than 14 days after the day on which we are informed about your decision to withdraw from this contract.
We will make the reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise; in any event, you will not incur any fees as a result of such reimbursement.
We may withhold reimbursement until we have received the goods back, or you have supplied evidence of having sent back the goods, whichever is the earliest.
You shall send back the goods or hand them over to Festival Art and Books, Machynlleth, Gwynedd, United Kingdom, +44 07748 980700, without undue delay and in any event not later than 14 days from the day on which you communicate your withdrawal from this contract to us. The deadline is met if you send back the goods before the period of 14 days has expired. You will have to bear the direct cost of returning the goods. You are only liable for any diminished value of the goods resulting from the handling other than what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods.
Exceptions to the right of withdrawal
The right of withdrawal does not apply to:
- The delivery of newspapers, journals or magazines with the exception of subscription contracts; and
- The supply of digital content which is not supplied on a tangible medium (e.g. on a CD or DVD) if you accepted when you placed your order that we could start to deliver it, and that you could not withdraw once delivery had started.
Shipping terms
Orders usually ship within 3-5 business days on payment confirmation and suitably packaged for safe shipment anywhere in the world. Shipping costs are based on books weighing up to 2.2 LB, or 1 KG to Europe and North America. If your book/s is heavier or over-sized or requires extra insurance, we will contact you to let you know the extra cost. We will deliver a high value order (£25,000+) in person for agreed travel costs.
