True first American printing (stated), 1935. With original unclipped jacket ($2.50). Translated from the Norwegian by Arthur G. Chater. Jacket has faults - namely edge/shelf wear, numerous tears, patchy loss (mainly to head/tail of spine and to corners), creasing/rubbing to edges, pushing/rubbing to head/tail of spine, few marks, minor patchy browning (including to spine), pushing/bumping to corners, the odd spot of foxing, creasing/rubbing/tears to front/back inner flaps and is in only fair condition. Boards are very good (having been well protected by the jacket) with minor pushing/bumping to corners and minor pushing/rubbing/fading to head/tail of spine. Pages are generally clean and the binding is tight. Top of pages dyed grey have the odd small mark/spot of foxing. Rough cut page edges and bottoms have browning/the odd small mark/minor foxing. Previous owner's bookplate inside front board. Pages bit tanned. Large gift inscription and date in pen to front end-paper. Occasional small marks/scattered foxing to pages. No other faults.
