The work focuses on Smith, a poor Nottingham teenager from a dismal home in a working class area, who has bleak prospects in life and few interests beyond petty crime. The boy turns to long-distance running as a method of both an emotional and a physical escape from his situation. In a green cloth binding with original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, smart, with just some slight edgewear. Dustwrapper is smart, with just some occasional foxing and handling marks. Internally, firmly bound. Front endpaper has been removed. Previous owner's ink stamps to half-title. Pages are bright and quite clean, with just a few instances of foxing. Good.
