About this Item
Gift quality first edition hardcover in medium blue paper covered boards with navy spine title and drawing of a sombrero hat on foot of spine along with "Sombrero Western Series' written there. Spine ends bumped, tips still fairly sharp, fep removed, one dated sticker and a small pen squiggle on frt pastedown. Hinge papers are fine, 156 pp text is tight w/occasional light soil in margins from handling. No library stamps on page block, pages or spine of book or dj. Un-clipped dust wrapper is complete and displays beautifully in new mylar with a color action drawing of a cowboy riding a horse at night, galloping out of town, while shooting backwards behind him with his pistol, the other hand on the reins. When Tay Wester rode into the near-dead township of Shunem he reckoned he'd touched zero in his fortunes. But what seemed a dead end was to bring his big chance, and not for himself only, but also for Anna, the girl he found there and love for whom kept him to the place and impelled him to seek its restoration. His efforts soon brought him into conflict with the dark forces which held the town moribund, for this was the West of the 1870s where the gun was law and ruthless killers could dominate communities. It cost a bitter struggle to defeat them, but it brought new life and hope to a rich valley and to its folk, and a good life for him and Anna. Seller Inventory # R46411
