Item description from seller

First edition in English of this foundational text in phenomenology, in which Husserl provided a new basis for logic and epistemology. "Two importantly different lines of theory came together in this monumental work: psychological theory, on the heels of Franz Brentano; and logical or semantic theory, on the heels of Bernard Bolzano" (Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy). 2 vols, octavo. Original red cloth, spines lettered in gilt. With dust jackets. Contemporary ownership signatures of one Ralph Cohn on front free endpapers. Spine ends bumped; jackets unclipped, spines gently faded, a couple of short closed tears and chips to extremities: near-fine copies in very good jackets indeed.
