Some edgewear and curling of covers edges, and there are a few ink spots on the front, otherwise a good solid reading and reference copy. Living Well with Arthritis is a practical guide written for people living with arthritis and those close to them, serving as a comprehensive reference work that readers can consult repeatedly across the range of topics relevant to managing a chronic condition of this kind. The authorship by Mosher, Stein, and Kraag suggests a collaborative approach drawing on professional medical expertise, likely combining the perspectives of rheumatologists or other healthcare professionals with direct clinical experience in treating arthritis patients. A multi author work benefits from the breadth of knowledge different contributors bring, allowing the book to address the subject from multiple professional angles while maintaining a consistent focus on practical usefulness. Arthritis encompasses a broad family of conditions, and the book would be expected to address the major forms including osteoarthritis, arising from gradual wearing of joint cartilage, and rheumatoid arthritis, which is an autoimmune inflammatory condition. Understanding the particular form affecting an individual is presented as a foundation for informed decision making about treatment and self management. The content would cover medical aspects including diagnosis, pharmaceutical and surgical treatments, and the role of physical therapy and exercise in maintaining joint function and managing pain. Beyond the strictly medical, the book addresses practical daily living strategies, fatigue management, emotional wellbeing, and navigating the healthcare system effectively. The emphasis on active management rather than passive description reflects a broader shift in medical publishing toward patient empowerment that became increasingly prominent from the latter decades of the twentieth century onward, recognizing that informed and engaged patients generally experience better outcomes and a higher quality of life.…
