With a Nice Association Letter
A collection of short stories, most previously published in McCall?s Magazine, the Strand Magazine, and other periodicals, now published for the first time in book form as part of the Uniform Edition of the Works of Rudyard Kipling. Three stories are new as well as 18 previously unpublished verses, either introductory to each tale or as a postscript. [Livingston 577 suppl.]
The most celebrated story is ?Dayspring Mishandled?, a tale of hatred and revenge first published in Mcall?s Magazine in 1928 and generally acknowledged as one of Kipling?s best shorts. Laid in is a typed letter from Kipling bibliographer Adm. Leroy Chandler concerning a double acrostic in Dayspring Mishandled, asking for the opinions of friends on his analysis. [?A QUERY IN REGARD TO ?DAYSPRING MISHANDLED.? Typed carbon, unsigned.]
Ex-libris Sacramento bookseller Edward Crussell (1875-1944), another Kipling scholar and charter member of the Kipling Society. The letter was published it in the April 1939 issue of The Kipling Journal, page 35.]

Shipping costs are based on an average weight, including packaging, of 2 LB, or 0.9 KG. We usually don't charge extra if you are above that, but If your book is very heavy or special handling is required we may add an extra shipping charge. This usually occurs only for books being shipped via priority mail or internationally; the extra cost for shipping can make the difference in whether we make a profit or take a loss on the sale. We will always contact you first to get your approval for the extra charge. Sometimes shipping doesn't cost as much as we estimate -- if it's a negligible amount we just let it be but if it is substantial, we usually refund the excess shipping. We do not insure our shipments*; if you would like your package insured let us know and we will quote you the extra cost for doing so. (*Domestic items being sent by priority mail are automatically insured by the post office for up to $50.)
