Add to basketFirst Edition (NAP). Published in 1902, this book is in very good condition. You can see the covers in the photos. They are quite clean. The gilt lettering on the spine is very bright. The top page edge is also gilt. The middle and bottom page edges are deckled or rough-cut. They did a very good job. I found only one instance of a thin loss at an edge, far from the print. The cover edges are in excellent shape. The corners have only slight rubbing. There are small creases just above the bottom corners. There's another small one off the front bottom edge, just adjacent to the spine. The book is square and the spine is straight. The binding is solid from cover to cover. The covers themselves are solidly bound. The pages are very clean throughout. I saw two consecutive top corners that had a small crease, but creasing, to the small extent that it exists, is not an issue. There are no markings in the book. No attachments of any kind. I found three pages that have some penciling, one with one paragraph with some lightly penciled underlining, and two facing pages with a parenthesis at each of their margins and beside them the penciled phrases 'correct view' and 'too true.' I looked around for other penciling without finding any. There are a great many illustrations, full-page black-and-white. They all appear to be in excellent condition. Mr. McBurney was associated with the Young Men's Christian Association throughout his entire career, mainly in the New York City region. The author, L. L. Doggett was the President of the International Young Men's Christian Association Training School in Springfield, Massachusetts.
