1960 2nd Printing of the 1959 Basic Books 1st Edition Thus, edited, with preface, by Author's son Francis Darwin, and foreword by George Gaylord Simpson. In 2 volumes, sold only as a set. Both Volumes are straight, square, securely bound and free of blemishes and markings; Covers are clean, with mildly bumped corners, headbands and tails, sun-fading to the spines and still-legible lettering. Slipcase shows some soiling, bumping at the corners, rubbing along the opening mild chipping to the paper and approx 1-1/2" splitting at top edge of the opening - but still offering sturdy protection to the Volumes.
