The first four volumes complete in 16 issues of this important, occasional journal from the University of Texas Library. Contains articles on bibliography, acquisitions, current collections, literary criticism, exhibitions, reviews, and more. Contributors include Fannie Ratchford, Donald J. Grout, Ernest Winkler, Nettie Lee Benson, Llerena Friend, Harry Ransom, and others. The originalLibrary Chroniclewould run from 1944-1968, and then be revived in a new series from 1970-1997. The journal is particularly valuable in detailing the activities of the library leading up to and through the years of Harry Ransom. Ransom's rapid and aggressive acquisitioning led to the University housing one of the premier rare book, manuscript, and cultural artifact collections in the world at the Humanities Research Center. Several of these issues also deal with Fannie Ratchford's involvement in the Thomas J. Wise controversy, the University housing the Wrenn collection which contained a large number of forgeries. . 16 issues, 23x15cm, various paginations. Photographs, facsimiles, illustrations.
