Williams (1762-1827), the English author who resided for most of her life in France, wrote passionately, but ignorantly on the French Revolution. "The honesty with which she wrote carried conviction to many of her readers; and there can be little doubt that her works were the source of many erroneous opinions as to facts." (see DNB).
