Illustrated throughout by Lettice Sandford and hand coloured in pink and blue. First Edition thus. 4to. [255 x 162 x 20 mm]. 88p. Bound by Sangorski and Sutcliffe, with their ink pallet to front pastedown, in quarter citron goatskin with cloth of gold boards, blocked and lettered in gilt to the spine, with gilt edges. In a cream paper slipcase. (Slipcase quite fragile and torn in some places). Limited edition of 300 copies - 60 of which were specially bound in cloth of gold, of which this is number 4. Bookplate of W. and P. J. Kupfer on the front pastedown. A lovely production of these lively letters from two of the best-known women-writers from the turn of the 18th century.
