Government binding stamped W. A. Harris, Binder, Washington. Official Civil War report transmitted by Secretary of War Edwin M. Stanton presenting Major General George B. McClellan’s account of the organization and operations of the Army of the Potomac covering the period from July 26, 1861 through November 7, 1862. Printed for the 38th Congress, 1st Session, Senate Executive Document by the Government Printing Office in 1864. The report provides McClellan’s detailed narrative of the early formation of the Army of the Potomac and its major campaigns in Virginia and Maryland, including operations surrounding the Peninsula Campaign and the Maryland Campaign. A significant primary source for the early military history of the Union Army during the American Civil War. Condition: Good. Cloth moderately rubbed with wear to spine ends and corners. Light foxing and age toning throughout. Early ownership signatures to front endpapers. Binding sound and text complete.
