"Is it only about writing to always be right?" Who wrote this, the accurate fencer Lessing in his dispute with Klotz, has preserved the freedom in the letter to question himself. Lessing's ingenious individuality, as Schlegel described her in amazement - in his letters she becomes more visible than in his works and in the testimonies about him. Only in them - and in the counter-letters - Lessing's groundbreaking originality becomes recognizable in its norm-breaking power: material difficulties as well as intellectual resistances to which he suffered life form and work: "In order to spread his mind, you must restrict his desires." The three-volume edition gathers for the first time in temporal FolFolFolfollow Lessings entire letter exchange from 1743 to 1781: this "completely taken from real life" (Hegel) with its surprisingly wide variety of motifs and themes that are worse not to be named, but only experienced by the reader.
