Published in 1997 during the early construction era of the Three Gorges Dam, the photographs capture the landscape of the Lesser Three Gorges before many environmental and infrastructural changes to the Yangtze River basin. This bilingual photographic volume presents striking landscape images of the Lesser Three Gorges of Wushan, a scenic stretch of the Daning River in Chongqing Municipality, China, famous for its dramatic limestone cliffs, narrow river passages, and lush mountain scenery. The book showcases large-format color photographs documenting the region's rugged terrain, traditional riverboats, and natural formations, accompanied by bilingual captions in Chinese and English. The work reflects the landscape photography traditions of the 1990s when the Three Gorges region was receiving heightened international attention due to the planning and construction of the Three Gorges Dam. Publication details appear in Chinese on the colophon page. The imprint reads China Three Gorges Publishing House, Beijing, with a stated printing of March 1997 and an indicated press run of 1-3000 copies. The work credits Xie Te Li as photographer, with editorial and translation contributions listed in both Chinese and English. The book appears to have been produced as a regional photographic album for cultural and tourism promotion. Near Fine.
