Large octavo, 851pp., illustrated with several plates, mostly group vignette portraits, as well as a lively image of "The Conflagration of Richmond." Some foxing to some plates, but mostly a clean, bright example. Rebound in tasteful modern green cloth, with gilt spine. Original marbling to all edges retained. An early postwar biography of Lee and his array of celebrated generals, uncommon in the trade. Though rebound, a sturdy and handsome example.
