An original gouache on paper. Signed and titled by the artist. An early work from the end of his student years.Lee Grandjean was born in 1949 in Essex. He has studied at the North East London Polytechnic between 1967 and 1968 and the Winchester School of Art between 1968 and 1971. After establishing his own studios in Shoreditch and Greenwich, London in 1972 he later moved to Norfolk to continue his practise.Grandjean has held a number of visiting teaching positions at the Kent Institute of Art and Design (now known as part of the University College of Creative Arts (UCCA)), University of East London, Coventry University, Wimbledon School of Art and the Royal College of Art.He has held a number of exhibitions across the United Kingdom and Europe. Various solo exhibitions include the King of Hearts Gallery, Norwich and the Beaux Art Gallery, Bath. Notable group exhibitions include New Concepts in British Sculpture at the Cass Sculpture Foundation and other touring venues (2003), Stuff Becomes Hollow at Contemporary Art, London (2005), Workforce Ha-Ha at De Fabriek, Eindhoven, Holland (2009) and Uncaught Hares 1, 2 & 3 at the Stephen Lawrence Gallery, London and the Clifford Chance Gallery, Canary Wharf (2011).Grandjean s work has also been commissioned by the Royal Bank of Scotland, Blenheim Group, London (1986) and Nottingham University (1998). His work has also been published in book such as Groundwork which displayed Grandjean s sculpture alongside the poetry of Jeremy Hooker.Grandjean is currently living in Norfolk and is a Senior Tutor in the Department of Sculpture at the Royal College of Art, London.
