The protaganist,14-year-old Newt Winger, was born into a poor Black family in Kansas and the story portrays a year in his life as he learns about love, fear, racial injustice, and immorality. This novel was later adapted into a successful film. Minor tear to bottom front dust jacket, some chipping to spine, protected by mylar wrapper. Not price clipped. Text and pages are clean and crisp.
