About this Item
Bright green cloth over boards with gilt titling to front and spine. Book is tight and square despite it's heft (342 pp) and free of markings inside other than the signature and date of first owner - Anne Griswold June 1929. Foreword by William Allan Neilson. Frontis portrait along with multiple other b/w full page plates. Book is Near Fine. Unclipped Dust Jacket is also suprisingly Near Fine with only the slightest scuffing around perimeters and a small stain at bottom of front. Seelye, 1837-1924, was a Congregational minister and first President of Smith College in Massachusetts. He was the brother of Julius Hawley Seelye, 1824-1895, also a clergyman and educator.
