A collection of five essays on language: "Language and International Relations," "Writing for Academic Purposes," "Learning a Foreign Language," "The Technique of Translation,", and "Language and Thought." The fragile jacket is torn at the base of the spine and at the lower front cover -- the original price is overprinted with a red block and a new price" Net 6s. 6d." printed beneath it. I do not know if this is a point of issue or whether the entire run was corrected. Previous owner's small discreet name and date of purchase (July 17, 1947) on half-title.
