459 pages. Very good. The top and bottom of the spine have been expertly restored, else fine. Clean unmarked text, top page edges gilt, 31 plates + double page map. From Ken Czech Bibliography: Rainsford trekked through British East Africa bagging a variety of game. Crossing the Mau escarpment the author's party hunted lion, buffalo and rhino, then elephant near Mt. Elgon. He remarked that shooting the elephant with a .500 or .577 was outmoded - a .256 Mannlicher or .275 Mauser would do perfectly well. Big game hunting adventures throughout.
