First Edition. Hardback. Dust Jacket. 4to. pp 100+. Original publisher's blue cloth, lettered gilt at the spine. Copiously illustrated in colour and black and white throughout. Text in Italian, French and English. Lucio Ranucci was born in 1925 in Italy. He began painting as a young man, while in boarding school, at the age of 22. Not long after his father's death, Ranucci left for Latin America in search of personal exploration and adventure. What was intended to be a brief excursion turned into a 16-year sojourn, immersing himself in the cultures of Argentina, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, and Costa Rica. In 1959, while working as a journalist, Ranucci interviewed prominent political figures such as Fidel Castro and Che Guevara. In 1963, he returned to Italy to submit to the scrutiny of European art critics. His return brought a series of successful exhibitions in Italy, Germany, France, and England. Filled with a passion for life, Ranucci's paintings demonstrate an understanding and compassion for people. His work is a testament to the immutable rituals of humankind. What makes Ranucci's work particularly striking is the combination of rich, vibrant colors with cylindrical shapes juxtaposed with soft curves. Fine in fine dust jacket. …
