First edition. 8vo. A review copy with the review slip laid-in. Cloth, titles stamped in white on the spine, xvi, 607 pp., preface, acknowledgments, illustrated, portraits, maps, appendices, notes, bibliography, index. Harwood P. Hinton says in a promotional dust jacket blurb, "Nolan's work is a premier study of the Lincoln County War, providing fresh insights and information from an array of unpublished letters, documents, and pictures. It is also a primary source book for those who dredge for data on the life and times of Billy the Kid and his world. The author carefully reviews conflicting opinions regarding the personalities and events of the war, making the book a unique exercise in historiography. Clearly focused, dramatic, and authoritative, Nolan's Lincoln County War will quickly become the basic book on the subject." Fine in dust jacket.
