About this Item
Hardback. An Autobiography. A Jack the Ripper associated title - the author was Assistant Commissioner, Metropolitan Police CID and the officer in charge of the unsolved Whitechapel murders investigation involving Jack the Ripper, from October 6, 1888, (taking up his post at Scotland Yard on the day of Mary Ann Nichols' murder) until the file was closed in 1892. The excellent reference book 'The Jack the Ripper A to Z' by Begg, Fido and Skinner (signed copies of which can be obtained from my website) contains an extremely comprehensive entry for Dr (later Sir Robert) Anderson. With Frontis. portrait of Sir Robert (which lacks tissue-guard) + Appendix. 295pp. lge. 8vo. h/back. With the personal b/plate of artist Clarence G. Houghton to ffep. Navy boards/bright gilt lettering to fr. cover and sp. Signs of sl. water damage to lower part of fr. and back covers, and water damage to fep/Frontis. page only (see image). Small split to head of sp. and back hinge of back cover (see image), but still a Nr. Vg. copy of a very scarce Jack the Ripper associated title. A fairly heavy book which will require additional postage if shipped overseas. Seller Inventory # 18421
