Fine leather bound, first edition hardback complete with seven plates and a folding plate of the Mer de Glace at the end. The book is bound in a full calf prize binding of the University of Edinburgh with gilt borders and device and marbled endpapers and page edges; the binding has some light wear and remains handsome and sound. The endpapers have a prize plate and a later owner's inscription. There is some light foxing throughout with the plates and some pages more heavily affected. Frontispiece, xii +[1] + 576.
