Consisting of nine rather lengthy letters, the author told of conditions in the frenzied mining areas of the Colorado Rockies and in "Denver City," which served as a base camp. Issued in conjunction with the celebration of the centennial of the Gold Rush in 1959, known as "The Rush to the Rockies." With an introduction by Colorado poet Thomas Hornsby Ferril. One of a limited edition of 975 copies, with facsimile of original title page, as published by the Bennington Banner, Bennington, Vermont. --- In blue-grey paper-covered boards backed in red cloth, with image of miner in blue to front cover; spine titling in gilt, deckled fore- and lower edges. Includes folded 56 cm. wide x 43 cm. tall folded map of the Colorado Gold Region, a facsimile of the Buell-Dillingham map, in a rear pocket. Volume wrapped in simple tan dust jacket, which repeats the cover image, but in red. --- A well-preserved copy: tightly-bound and unmarked, though with age-toning to edges of cover.
